Formal Country Garden Redevelopment
Working within the setting of this Arts & Crafts country house, our brief was to enhance the grounds surrounding the attached Victorian glasshouse while respecting the srchitectural integrity of both structures. The scheme centred on the installation of traditional Yorkstone paving and carefully detailed stone steps, creating a natural transition between house, glasshouse, and garden. Each element was designed to feel as though it had always belonged to the property. The Yorkstone was selected for its timeless character and durability, complementing the warm stonework and historic detailing of the glasshouse. Subtle changes in level were addressed through generously proportioned stone steps and considered hard landscaping, ensuring the space is both practical and visually harmonious.
Formal Garden Terrace Construction
This large-scale formal garden terrace was a complex and rewarding project, designed in collaboration with a landscape architect and the property owner. Extensive earthworks were carried out to level and terrace the site, alongside drainage improvements to manage heavy clay soil. Reclaimed York paving was used to create a refined seating area, with gravel pathways and metal edging forming clean, formal lines. Detailed boxwood hedging and a carefully planned mixed planting scheme completed the space, resulting in a beautifully structured and elegant garden terrace.
Outdoor Pool Area Landscaping
This bespoke outdoor pool area landscaping project focussed on transforming the surroundings of a private outdoor swimming pool and adjoining garden into a refined and functional luxury outdoor living space. The design centred on creating a private, sheltered poolside enviroment that enhances both usability and visual impact. A large, sweeping drystone retaining wall was expertly constructed to provide structural support while establishing a secluded and intimate setting around the swimming pool. Premium sandblasted sandstone paving was installed to deliver a durable, slip resistant surface with a contemporary finish, further enhanced by integrated poolside lighting for atmosphere and evening use. The project also included the installation of a bespoke changing room and summerhouse, adding practicality and architectural interest to the space. The formal lawn and generous planting areas complete the design, softening the hard landscaping and creating a balanced, high-end poolside garden retreat that can be enjoyed throughout the seasons.
Potager Garden Creation
This bespoke potager garden design and kitchen garden installation transformed a compact space into a highly productive and beautifully structured growing area. Although modest in size, the project required detailed planning and precise landscape construction to maximise functionality without compromising visual appeal. Black limestone paving was installed to create durable, low maintenance pathways, complimented by reclaimed granite cobble edging to clearly define the raised planing beds and garden borders. The combination of natural stone materials introduces texture and character while providing long lasting structure to the kitchen garden layout. To ensure successful vegetable and herb cultivation, the existing soil was carefully improved and enriched with organic matter, creating optimal conditions for year round productivity. Generously proportioned paved paths allow easy access for wheelbarrows, planting, and harvesting, resulting in a practical, well organised potager garden that blends traditional style with modern usability.
Stone Firepit & Seating Area
This stone firepit installation and outdoor seating area was designed to create a striking focal point for year round garden entertaining. The circular raised firepit, complete with handcrafted curved seating bench, forms a defined and inviting outdoor living space that enhances both functionality and visual appeal. Reclaimed buff coloured sandstone walling stone was carefully selected for the firepit structure, allowing the feature to weather naturally and blend seamlessly with the surrounding garden walls and property. The use of traditional natural stone adds warmth, texture, and long term durability to the overall garden design. Sandblasted porcelain paving was installed to the bench seating, firefit coping, and surrounding patio area, providing a clean, contemporary contrast to the reclaimed sandstone. The combination of high quality materials delivers a low maintenance yet characterful outdoor entertaining area-expertly constructed to withstand the elements while offering a welcoming space for gatherings throughout the seasons. Garden Options created a beautiful firepit area that has become the centrepiece of our garden. The materials and workmanship are outstanding, and it’s a space we enjoy all year round.
Town Garden Redesign
This comprehensive town garden redesign transformed a compact urban garden into a structural and highly functional outdoor living space. The urban garden transformation was guided by strong design principles, clean architectural lines, and carefully considered levels to create a series of distinct yet seamlessly connected garden areas. A spacious terraced seating area, finished in premium black limestone paving, provides the main entertaining space and flows naturally into a level lawn. Beyond this, a secluded evening seating area is enclosed by characterful drystone retaining walls, creating privacy and a sense of enclosure within the town setting. These natural stone walls also define generous planting beds and elegantly manage the changes in level throughout the garden landscape. Oak timber retaining walls and bespoke access steps lead up to a practical working garden area, completed with hard wearing sandstone paving laid in a traditional manner. The addition of a summerhouse and greenhouse enhances both usability and year round enjoyment, resulting in a well balanced, design-led urban garden that combines structure, warmth, and long-term durability.
